Tamming Law Is Proud to Support the Owen Sound Poet Laureate

The Owen Sound Little Theatre (OSLT) is pleased to announce the selection of Chatsworth-area poet Terry Burns as Owen Sound’s fourth Poet Laureate. Chosen from an impressive field of applicants, Terry Burns is a prolific writer. She has written novels, short stories, essays, non-fiction works and poems that capture the imagination and resonate with the Owen Sound community. Over the years, she’s contributed many pieces to Mosaic and served as coordinator of the Words Aloud Spoken Word and Storytelling Festival.

Terry says she is fascinated by the way poetry is practiced in everyday life. “We forget about the fact that people continue to practice it every day in a populist way—things like rap and hip hop.”

As Poet Laureate, she looks forward to writing more poetry about Owen Sound, giving public poetry readings and working with other local poets. “As I explore my own poetry, I also want to reach out to poets around the region and explore together.”
